Nice win for us in a rare bad performance by Matt Williamson
in goal for the other team. 6 goals in the first period
sealed the game for us but they came back within 3 before
we found the scoring touch again. Probably also a first
for our team to have no penalties called for either team.
7 guys were in on the scoring and 11 guys had multi-point
games.
Three stars;
First Star, Nick Dellaquila 4G 2 A for a 6 point night
not too often you get these numbers aginst Williamson.
Second Star, Phil Dakin 2 G 3 A also made plays to set
up other guys that sometimes worked out.
Third Star, Don Stockley 1G 3A Probably matched my point
total for the summer league in this one game.
Jan 15 TUE 10:30 Rust Blue Wings Loss 8-2
6-4-2
With an extended break between games and having to play
a late game on the big ice, I knew this game was going
to be a rough one. We played a great first period then
Al got tossed on a questionable call of a 5 minute major
cross check to face. The ref saw blood so I guess he had
to call it that way. considering we had 10 guys and they
had 15 we ran out of gas. and the third period was pretty
brutal. Also add to that Grabass tested using Capcasian
instead of his usual icy hot on his thighs and ended up
with hot sauce on his legs. This caused ear cramping for
everyone.
What a great game! The white team holds on to the
lead down to the wire winning the Inaugural Red & White
classic cup 10-9. It was celebrated early into the morning
at Klondike Kates and the corner diner in Newark. It was
a great game by all accounts with great scoring, a good
fight and some great teamwork on both sides. Next year
should prove to be a good matchup.
White team: Captain Al Gallo, Asst Cap
Don Stockley Forwards: Phil Dakin, Dave Griffith, Mike
DiGuglielmo, Al Gallo, Bert Woods and Joe Clark Defence:
Don Stockley, Ken Deming, Mike Powers and Ray Civette
Red Team, Captain Mark Romaniniski,
Asst Cap Jake Collins Forwards: Nick Dellaquila, Jeff
Bell, Paul Romaninski, Dan Moore, Mike Olivere, Jake Collins
Defence: Mark Romaniniski, Zack Collins, Sean Wheeler
Oct 28 SUN 10:00 Gold Evil Monkeys LOSS
8-5, 3-2-0
Pitiful! We got beat by 1 guy and a 14 year old goalie.
Thats what we get for taking a team for granted.
Three Stars:
First Star, the kid goalie on the other team. He stopped
the first, second and third shots for the most part all
night.
Second Star, 41 on the other team. We tried everything
to stop him and he even scored a goal while on his ass.
We ponded him and he would just get back up and keep playing.
You gotta respect a player like him.
Third Star, Believe it or not but the refs get some props
for a change. They called a good game and stayed out of
it. If they had started calling penaties they should have
against us, I can't imagine what would have happened out
there.
Oct 25 THU 10:30 Gold Bearcats Loss 4-0,
3-1-0
Not much positive can be said about this game. They were
younger faster and had the stripes on their side all night.
3 of their 4 goals were on the PP and we played 2 periods
short handed. Normally we might have a call or two against
us that seems questionable but last night was ridiculous.
Three Stars:
First Star, Grabass. Made soma amazing saves although
he may want to have an upper and lower GI NO need for
D to clear the front of the net as he made sure nobody
was coming around the crease.
Second star, Josh Partner for playing on both sides of
the ice while tryng to recoup from the penalties.
Third Star, Jeff Bell for seeing 3 stars or more. Look
out for 88 big guy.
Game 3 Oct 14 SUN 10:00 Gold Swedish Fish Win
7-5, 3-0-0
Sluggish start to the game, as it seems like we were
expecting another lopsided victory. To our surprise the
Fish came out strong and have added a few skilled players
who really hustled. We did wake up and fight back to take
the lead but the pesky Fish hung around capitalizing on
our large number of penalties. Nick's goal as time expired
in the 2nd period really seemed to drain their enthusiasm
and we hung on to win a surprisingly hard fought game
7-5.
Three Stars:
First Star to Nick clearly had the first star with a
hat-trick. One goal with 1 second left in the second.
Nick was also very positive on the bench.
Second Star to Al for his great hustle and 2 goals, 1
Assist
Third Star to Josh a had a pretty good game defensively
Game 2 Oct 07 SUN 10:00 Gold Snipers WIN
10-3, 2-0-0
36
Not knowing what we were up against we started the game
a little cautious. They had a short bench and we had a
few more guys. It was close after the first period but
it could have had something to do with Jeff watching the
stands instead of the play?? We opened up in the second
scoring 7 goals. Nice to start 2-0-0 for a change.
Three Stars.
First star to Joe Clark for scoring the game winner as
well as adding a helper and his typical good positional
play.
Second Star: Jeff Bell for getting a hat trick once there
was someone in the stands to see it.
Third Star: Jake Collins for a couple of helpers and
because Nick said he deserves one.
Game 1 Sep 24 MON 10:10 Gold Blue Wings WIN
4-2, 1-0-0
24
Not only did we look great in our new uniforms but we
also played much better as a team. This is a team we usually
hang with but run out of gas due to their youth. Last
night we did a great job in breaking their rush and keeping
the pressure on them throughout the game as well as clearing
the puck from the front of the net. Matt mentioned his
job was made a little easier as we didn't give them too
many second chances at the puck. Defence played a hell
of a game.
Nice start to the season boys!
Three stars.
First star goes to Bert Woods. Despite his not being
able to make it over a blue line without falling he had
a hell of game on both sides of the ice. Scoring the Game
winner in a beauty way helps too.
Second star: Phil Dakin, He had 2 helpers and exemplified
what backchecking is all about.
Third Star; Jeff Simpson, He had 2 helpers as well and
had he been there for the whole game he may have bumped
up to second star for his comment to the ref regarding
his point totals.

P2 5/21 MON 9:00 GOLD vs Bearcats Loss 5-1
Eliminated from playoffs.
Another great team effort despite the outcome! We got
down 2 goals early and never recovered. The real reason
for the loss was their goalie was spectacular. We outplayed
them in the second and third period and outshot them overall
35-28. It was a physical game that stayed in control for
the most part aside from Al getting booted with a 10 minute
misconduct late in the game. Refs were inconsistent with
what they called and didn't call. We played a good game
and were beat by a good goaltender. We could have used
a few bounces we had the night before but overall we played
our game and it just wasn’t good enough.
Despite the loss we had a good post game turnout in the
parking lot with most everyone showing up for at least
1 cold one. Luckily Barney Fife was off last night and
we were able to hang for a good bit. Probably have a new
"downed" record of 58 empties.
P1 5/20 SUN 10:15 GOLD vs. Drunken Clams WIN
6-4 Great team effort last night and we finally
knocked that monkey off our back. All cylinders were rolling
and we faced some tough situations but came through in
the end. With only 1 scrum sending players to the box,
it was a relatively peaceful game between us given our
history. It does help to get off to an early lead as well
as out work them but the second period we relaxed a little
and allowed them to get back into the game. If anything
it was great to shut those damn people in the stands finally.
I can’t stand those people get a life!!!!!
Star Tally Regular Season Spring!
1. Dan M, Jeff B, Bert W, Dave G, Jake C, Mark R, Matt
C, Mike O, Chris G 2
2. Dave G, Matt C, Paul R. Damian M, Doug B, Don S, Bert

3. The scorekeeper, Dan M, Mark R. Doug B, Bert W, TGIF
Cook, Paul R, Nick D, Al G.
Game #10 5/14 MON 8:00 GOLD CitiGroup Forfeit
Win 2-0, 4-5-1
Actual score was 6-2 but because of a bonehead move on
their part, they had a 17year old unrostered player in
the game and caused their own forfeit by yelling at one
of us to take it easy on him because he is only 17. Hey
dumbass you need to be 18 or older to play!!!!
Three Stars: 1) Dan M. Played a hell of a game and stayed
out of the box and in the game in what could have been
an ejection for him in previous outings. Way to keep your
head in it.
2) Dave G. Had an assist and from what I recall played
both sides effectively.
3)The scorekeeper/ league rep who noticed the 17 year
old.
Game #9 5/13 SUN 8:40 GOLD Swedish Fish
Win 6-2, 3-5-1
Too many guys showed up stuffed from Mothers Day dinners.
Luckily we were playing the Fish and could afford a night
like this. Not too many great things happened out there
and their young goalie perfromed well again.
Three Stars: 1) Jeff B, He's been around long enough
now to get a star. Had a couple of goals and a helper.
2) Matt C. Had a couple of assists and played well with
backchecking
3) Dan M. Had a goal and an assist. Luckily we were playing
the Fish and he tried to go with that one woman to make
it a Gordie hat-trick but she wasn't biting.
Game#8 5/6 SUN 8:40 GOLD Drunken Clams Loss
6-3, 2-5-1
I can't say too much about this game because I really
sucked in this one. The first period was brutal due to
penalties but we palyed strong into the second period.
It was within our grasp but because of defensive breakdowns,
I was actually standing still on the last 2 goals, we
lost the game.
Three Stars: 1) Bert W. Great defensive play and a sweet
1 timer
2&3) Romaninsky bros - aggressive on the puck. Really
made some key plays and kept us in the game
Game#7 5/3 THU 8:00 GOLD CitiGroup Loss
6-4, 2-4-1
We got off to a rough start but picked up speed as it
moved along. Late in the second period the game was interuppted
by a bit of a scrum. No real fights occurred but we ended
up losing 2 guys and having to fight off a 5 minute major.
No only did we fight it off but we got a shorthanded goal
from Dave and added 2 more juat asw e went back to 5 on
5 just for kicks. We owned the third period and a good
part of the second. 5-10 more minutes and it would have
been ours. Everyone showed great heart and determination.
We beat them down and they got frustrated and started
to make mistakes that we capitalized on. Great game everyone.
Three Stars: 1) Dave G. for actually playing defence
for most of the game. He also got the shorty
2) Damian M. another forward stepping up to play D and
doing a great job as well.
3) Hard to say with such a great team effort but I'l
give it to Doug for his hustle and continued improvement
overall. You taking hockey classes or something? Must
be all the Playoff hockey you are watching. Keep it up!
Game #6 5/1 TUE 9:40 GOLD Mutiny Loss 8-2,
2-3-1
Tough loss in a well played game by Conectiv. We are
playing younger faster players and can only do so much
against these kids. We hung in there for a bit but they
just beat us with speed. We had goal that was not called.
The goalie had it under his pad but from my vantage point
I could clearly see the pad was across the line and no
whistle. Then they had a goal that no one seemed to see
go in except the guy that shot and he raised his arms
so they called it a goal. Then things got real ugly. The
Scott Gomez looking guy decided to go all Ric Flair like
when they scored their 8th goal. A few of us exchanged
words with him and he decided to takes Paul’s legs
out from under him. GONG let the games begin. Dan and
Jake happened to be in the middle of a line change when
this all went down and there was a bit of a pile up. #17
made the mistake of being tough with Bert while the ref
was between them as well as shooting his mouth all game.
When the pile started to grow the ref went over to assist
and Bert came around and carefully removed 17's helmet
so he could perform a little dental work. UD's finest
made sure there were no extra curricular activities in
the parking lot.
Three Stars: 1) Gotta give it to Jake C. He scored a
goal and had a hell of a game. Keep it up Sugar Daddy!
2) Doug B. He played probably the best game he's had
in years. He was making some sweet reads to stop their
breakouts.
3) Bert "The Dentist" Woods. As the ref said
he had it coming. It will be a while before he decides
to be tough. But 17 can now eat corn through a picket
fence!
Game #5 4/25 WED 9:00 PM GOLD Evil Monkeys
Win 9-0, 2-2-1
Didn't really need to give em hell. It was 9-0 going
into the third so we decided to switch things up and traded
some players and played the third period that way. Scorekeeper
kept the score but we will officially call the game 9-0.
Three Stars: 1) Mark R. set up a couple of goals as well
as getting a hat-trick himself over the course of all
3 periods.
2) Don S. Scored the game winner and ended the night
with a hat trick in the third period.
3) The cook at TGIF's for cooking the ribs... oh so perfect.....
Game #4 4/17 TUES 9:40 PM RUST ING Direct
Tie 3-3, 1-2-1
An interesting game that we really should have won. We
were able to control ourselves and stay out of the penalty
box until it got ugly at the final horn. Their players,
meaning the whole bench, decided to jump in on a scuffle
in our corner. The final bit of madness came when someone
took out another player off the ice. Ken made a point
to rush back onto the ice to tattle-tell on that someone
who ended up getting a game suspension because of video
cameras.
Three Stars: 1) Matt C. Had 2 goals and made some nice
moves out there.
2) Nick D. set up 2 of the goals with some sweet passes.
3) Paul R. made a difference out there with his size
by playing aggressive as well as firing up his linemates.
Game #3 4/15 SUN 8:40 PM RUST Bearcats Loss
3-1, 1-2-0
Another loss due to lack of intensity. Despite the goalie
playing in the game prior he was a factor in the outcome
as well. We spend too much time in the penalty box especially
in the third period once frustration sets in. We ALL need
to work on that. Another thig we need to work on is communication
with each other on the ice. There were a few collisions
and mis-plays that could have been avoided if we just
talk to each other.
Three Stars: 1) Chris G. Made some huge saves and considering
the time we were shorthand, he was big part of it being
a close game.
2) Phil D. Made some good plays in both ends and managed
to keep his stick in his hands this game.
3) Al G. Despite the blown tire in the second (he claims
it was a sniper) he read a few of their plays and created
turnovers.
Game #2 4/5 THU 9:40 RUST Bearcats Loss
4-2, 1-1-0
Loss 4-2 Regardless of a poorly reffed game by the Walrus,
we did not play our best. They were beating us to pucks
along the boards and out shot us 33-19. We had some really
great moments in their zone and Nick had an amazing shorthanded
goal set up beautifully by Matt. A third goal was called
due to a crease violation that was a little questionable.
But some close to the action said it was no goal. They
still had our number and had a few good players that were
a huge difference in the outcome. Our next game should
be a good battle.
Three Stars: 1) Chris G. Made some huge saves and considering
the time we were shorthand, he was big part of it being
a close game.
2) Nick D. He scored both of our goals and had some amazing
hand eye co-ordination on the second goal. Would have
made Top 10 on ESPN for sure.
3) Phil D. Had the goal (with a wicked shot) that was
taken away as well as some fancy stickwork on and over
the ice. Should consider the decathlon as a new challenge.
Game #1 4/1 SUN 7:00 GOLD Swedish Fish Win
8-1, 1-0-0
We won 8-1. They were a novice team which played very
well positionally, plus their goaltender stood on his
head for the 1st and most of the 2nd period. He faced
55 shots (they had 6) and they ran out of gas by the 3rd
period.
Three Stars: 1) Mike O : Was a fixture in front of their
net, screening the goalie all night. He just couldn't
be moved and he had a very nice tip in goal!
2) Bert W. :Seemed to smell blood out there...was all
over the ice....tallied a goal and an assist. Plus he
hammered a few of their novice players, yet miraculously
did not take a penalty!
3) Nick D. : Honorably dropped back on Defense since
we were short....bad news for all players because he was
like a long range cannon on the point, dropping one of
their female forwards with a blast to the ankle. Happy
21st Birthday Kristen!!

MUTINY vs. CONECTIV Game # 3 3/19/2007 Rust
8:30pm-10:00pm
4-0 Loss Eliminated from playoffs.
Despite a good effort all around, we ended up on the
wrong side of lucky puck bounces. They really only had
one goal that was earned. the other 3 barely made it over
the line. Matt played a good game in place of Chris. We
can't win if we don't score and every one of our shots
seemed to hit the goalie in the chest. We now focus on
the upcoming spring season.
First Star: Team Defence. Despite the score we played
a pretty good game as a team in our zone. Forwards played
well in our zone and we moved the puck out of the zone
well. D-men did a good job of clearing the front of the
net for Matt.
Second Star: Beer! It can be Milwaukee's Best or Justins
Home brew, if its fermented and cold we drink it. For
that is what we turn to in both celebration and sorrow.
Last night we downed a few pithcers to ease the pain.
Third Star: Matt Williamson for playing for us last night
and through the season for those times Chris couldn't
make it.
